「援交」和「一樓一」的英文 (English

「援交」近日成為中文常用詞匯，那「援交」的英文是甚麼呢？

「援交」應來自日本，全名是「援助交際」，就是跟陌生人交往，換取報酬，以援助生活。英文報章一般譯做compensated dating。Compensate是「補償」(名詞為compensation)；dating一般指男女間的約會，一如拍拖。例如：

Ting Kai-tai was jailed for the brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl involved in what is known as compensated dating.

A "barbaric" 24-year-old man who beheaded the body of a teenage compensated-dating girl and flushed her remains down the toilet was sentenced to life in jail yesterday.

「援交少女」以「援交」做修飾語，譯做compensated-dating，這種構詞比較複雜，先將動詞變過去分詞作形容詞用，再加上hyphen串連而成形容詞。不過這種手法在處理較新較複雜的概念時，也很常見(如上例的24-year-old)。

為何英文好像沒有較簡單的翻譯呢？因為「援交」本就是掩飾語，實是「賣淫」(prostitution)，凡是事先議價和付款的性行為，都屬賣淫。以「援交」稱之，實是顛倒是非，誤人終生。

順帶一提，香港文化特式「一樓一鳳」，英文可以譯做one-woman brothel。Brothel就是「妓院」、「妓寨」。妓女正名則是prostitute。

I guess I would call that 'individual whore', not quite sure.

I think as 鳳 is already a 'nickname' of prostitutes, a translation using 'whore' (an informal word) would fit better in the context.

thx. 'whore' is good, your eng is very good. but under the context, 一樓一 seems to refer to the premises, not the prostitute, so the newspaper (i haven't quoted) used 'one-woman brothel', it seems ok.

I have considered exactly the point you raised before I thought of that 'term'. In my concept, 「一樓一鳳」refers to the system of providing sexual services, but not the 'venue'. The venue, seems to me, is called 黃色架步 or 色情場所 more likely......

Just my thought...... :-P
